OPNET Technologies Signs Japanese Distribution Pact With Mitsui

Global Channel Developer to Provide Comprehensive Japanese Distribution Network for OPNET Software

WASHINGTON, DC -- June 21, 2000 -- OPNET Technologies, Inc., a provider of intelligent network management software, and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. today announced a comprehensive distribution agreement, paving the way for Mitsui to distribute OPNET Modeler and IT DecisionGuru software throughout Japan via Mitsui's extensive sales channels.

"The OPNET/Mitsui relationship is an important step in the expansion of our international sales efforts," said Marc Cohen, OPNET's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Japan is a key market opportunity and Mitsui is highly regarded throughout the country. Mitsui's far-reaching distribution infrastructure can help us service Japanese customers to a degree that would have been very difficult on our own."

"The big winners from this deal are the service providers and IT organizations across Japan that stand to benefit greatly from OPNET's powerful suite of predictive simulation software," said Masaaki Miura, General Manager of Mitsui's Open Software Department, Solutions Business Division. "We're excited about the business opportunity this agreement offers us and we're looking forward to cultivating a new clientele based on the unique capabilities of OPNET's products."

In addition to distributing OPNET software, Mitsui is planning to open the OPNET Simulation Support Center with Johokobo, Inc. of Tokyo. Johokobo is a systems integrator and professional services firm with a highly skilled staff of OPNET-trained professionals. Together, the companies plan to use the support center to offer value-added OPNET training, consulting services and technical support.

"Mitsui is well versed in network management, having been an HP OpenView channel partner for years, and our Japanese customers are among the most sophisticated OPNET users in the world," said Todd Kaloudis, Vice President of Marketing at OPNET. "Our deal with Mitsui will help us deliver the level of service that these customers demand and we're looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with both Mitsui and Johokobo."
