![]() NetTest's PNNI interEMULATOR Now Integrates with OPNET Software TORONTO, Canada - June 18, 2001 - NetTest (GN Nettest), a leading worldwide provider of testing, monitoring and management solutions for advanced and converged networks, today announced its newest release of the PNNI interEMULATOR Network Emulation System. Release 5.0 of the PNNI interEMULATOR contains several new features, including support for Solaris 8.0 and a new Tcl command line interface. In addition, R5.0 of the PNNI interEMULATOR can now import scenarios from OPNET products, allowing users to do more sophisticated analyses. Earlier this year NetTest and OPNET Technologies Inc., the leading provider of intelligent network management software, announced plans to deliver integrated PNNI and MPLS software solutions for planning and testing advanced networking technologies. As a result of their collaboration, NetTest's PNNI interEMULATOR now has the added ability to import network topology and parametric information directly from the OPNET environment. This integration of network planning and real-time testing functions eliminates labor intensive network modeling data entry, while ensuring rapid network deployment of complex PNNI networks. "What we've done is taken two best-of-breed products and integrated them, thereby providing the customer with a very robust solution set," says Alvin Francis, senior product manager at NetTest. "OPNET's software is second to none when it comes to the design and analysis of networks, network equipment, and communications protocols. NetTest's PNNI interEMULATOR strengths lie in its ability to conduct real-time testing and analysis of complex network topologies. Essentially, the customer wins with the integration of these products." Todd Kaloudis, vice president of marketing at OPNET added, "The new PNNI interEMULATOR software leverages OPNET's virtual network environment to produce live protocol traffic for testing PNNI-enabled ATM switches in highly realistic scenarios. This is great news for service providers seeking to increase the efficiency and reliability of their ATM networks with more sophisticated routing and traffic engineering." NetTest will be unveiling the OPNET integration and other
new features of PNNI interEMULATOR R5.0 at Broadband Year 2001 Conference
and Tradeshow, June 18-22, San Jose, California. Additional information is
