Prerequisites:
Basic understanding of network technologies.
Course Description:
Through labs and lecture, this course teaches you the fundamentals of the product workflow
and model library. It focuses on core backbone network design, performance
prediction, and device configuration validation. You will learn how to create/import topologies and traffic profiles, and analyze networks using NetDoctor, Flow
Analysis, and discrete-event simulation.
This course is also valuable to Modeler users who wish to learn how to
use the standard model library and various modules: XDI, NetDoctor, and
Flow Analysis.
Notes:
- IT Guru Network Planner and SP Guru Network Planner differ in what types of networks you can import and analyze, but the workflows, methodologies, and analyses are similar. This class applies to users of both IT Guru Network Planner and SP Guru Network Planner.
Agenda:
Day 1:
- Overview of workflow and use cases
- Importing IP and layer 2 with XDI
- Network troubleshooting using NetDoctor
- Auditing and validating network device configurations
Day 2:
- Importing traffic with XDI
- Identifying bandwidth bottlenecks and capacity planning
- Understanding effects of network failures
- Capacity planning studies
